BioBalance H2O2 is a concentrated 12% hydrogen peroxide solution for treating visible mold on raw building materials — including wood framing, trusses, subflooring, crossbeams, roof decking, OSB/plywood sheets, cinder block walls, concrete floors, and more.
This product is an intensive structural mold treatment selected and used by BioBalance’s credentialed practitioners: Jeff Bookout (CMI, CMRC, AHERA Inspector — 20+ years of indoor air quality work, 4,000+ mold assessments) and JW Biava (CMI, CMRC, ISEAI Board Member — 100,000+ inspections and assessments). BioBalance H2O2 is the solution they recommend when visible mold contamination is found on structural building materials prior to or during remediation.
What’s Included
- BioBalance H2O2™ — 1 gallon (128 oz.) of 12% hydrogen peroxide solution
- Treats up to 1,500 sq. ft. of contaminated building material surface area
Note: This listing is for solution only. A pump sprayer, N95 respirator, gloves, and goggles are required for application. See the BioBalance Peroxide Kit for the complete application bundle.
How H2O2 Eliminates Mold
Hydrogen peroxide is a powerful oxidizing agent. At 12% concentration, H2O2 penetrates mold cell walls and disrupts cellular function through oxidation — inactivating mold on contact. Unlike bleach, which can leave chemical residue and is not safe for structural wood, hydrogen peroxide decomposes entirely into water and oxygen, leaving no toxic byproducts on treated materials.
BioBalance H2O2 contains 12% hydrogen peroxide in water, with no stabilizers, surfactants, fragrances, or other additives.
When to Use BioBalance H2O2
BioBalance H2O2 is designed for visible mold contamination on raw building materials. It is an intensive structural treatment, not an air or surface treatment for living spaces.
Use H2O2 for:
- Visible mold on wood framing, trusses, subflooring, roof decking, or OSB
- Mold on cinder block, concrete, or masonry surfaces
- Pre-remediation treatment of contaminated structural materials
- Post-discovery treatment before enclosure or reconstruction
Use Haven™ citrus products (HavenFog, HavenMist) for:
- Airborne mold spore reduction in living spaces
- Ongoing maintenance treatment
- Mold-sensitive or chemically sensitive occupants
- Non-structural surfaces, furniture, and belongings
For a complete treatment plan combining structural H2O2 treatment with environmental Haven treatment, visit our Custom Treatment Plan page or consult the Mold Treatment Guide: Visible Mold Treatment.
Material Safety
12% hydrogen peroxide is a genuine oxidizing hazard. Please review the full Safety Data Sheet (SDS) included with your order before handling this product.
Key safety points:
- Causes severe burns on contact with skin or eyes — wear gloves, goggles, and appropriate protective clothing
- Strong oxidizing agent — keep away from flammable or organic materials during application
- Will bleach and break down many organic materials; use only on raw, unfinished building materials
- Store leftover solution securely in original container, in a cool location away from heat sources
- Keep out of reach of children

Frequently Asked Questions
What concentration of hydrogen peroxide does BioBalance H2O2 contain?
BioBalance H2O2 is a 12% hydrogen peroxide solution — the concentration used by professional mold remediators for treating visible mold on raw building materials. It contains hydrogen peroxide in water, with no stabilizers, surfactants, fragrances, or other additives.
Can I use BioBalance H2O2 on drywall or finished wood surfaces?
No. BioBalance H2O2 is designed for raw, unfinished building materials only — wood framing, trusses, OSB, concrete, cinder block, and similar structural substrates. H2O2 will bleach and break down finished surfaces, painted wood, fabric, and other organic materials. Do not use on drywall, finished floors, furniture, or living-space surfaces.
What safety equipment do I need to apply BioBalance H2O2?
You will need: chemical-resistant gloves, safety goggles or a face shield, an N95 (or higher) respirator, and clothing that covers your skin. Read the included Safety Data Sheet (SDS) in full before handling. The BioBalance Peroxide Kit includes a pump sprayer, N95 respirator, gloves, and goggles.
Does hydrogen peroxide leave chemical residue after treatment?
No. Hydrogen peroxide decomposes into water and oxygen — it leaves no chemical residue on treated materials. This makes it preferable to bleach or other chemical biocides for structural applications where the treated surface will be enclosed.
How does BioBalance H2O2 compare to the Haven citrus products?
BioBalance H2O2 and the Haven™ citrus line serve different treatment environments. H2O2 is an intensive structural treatment for visible mold on raw building materials — typically used during or after remediation. Haven products (HavenFog, HavenMist, HavenWipe) are citrus-based treatments for living spaces, air quality, and ongoing maintenance. Many treatment plans use both: H2O2 for structural surfaces and Haven for the environment.
How much surface area does 1 gallon of BioBalance H2O2 treat?
One gallon treats up to 1,500 sq. ft. of building material surface area, depending on the porosity of the material and the severity of visible mold contamination. Highly porous materials (OSB, rough concrete) may require more product per square foot than smooth surfaces.
Can I apply BioBalance H2O2 myself, or do I need a professional?
BioBalance H2O2 is available for DIY use with proper safety precautions. However, if mold contamination is widespread, involves HVAC systems, or if occupants have known mold sensitivities or health concerns, consult a credentialed Indoor Environmental Professional (IEP) before treating. AirWell provides professional assessment services in several states.

My husband used this on ceiling beams that have mold. It does bubble up and we are then sanding to remove anything we suspect has mold. I like that it’s an indicator of active mold.
