About BioBalance Peroxide Kit
The BioBalance Peroxide Kit is an intensive mold treatment solution designed for one specific job: eliminating visible mold contamination on raw building materials. When you can see mold on wood framing, subflooring, roof decking, trusses, OSB, cinder block, or concrete — this kit gives you everything you need to treat it safely and effectively.
At the heart of the kit is BioBalance H2O2™, a 12% hydrogen peroxide solution. At this concentration, H2O2 acts as a powerful oxidizing agent: it penetrates mold colonies at the cellular level, disrupting fungal cell membranes and neutralizing contamination on contact. Unlike bleach, hydrogen peroxide breaks down into water and oxygen, leaving no toxic residue on treated surfaces.
This product is part of the BioBalance comprehensive mold treatment protocol — selected by Jeff Bookout (CMI, CMRC, AHERA Inspector, 20+ years, 4,000+ mold assessments) and JW Biava (CMI, CMRC, ISEAI Board Member, 100,000+ inspections) as the appropriate tool for visible, surface-level mold remediation on porous building substrates.

How Hydrogen Peroxide Treats Mold
Hydrogen peroxide has been used in professional mold remediation for decades. At 12% concentration, H2O2 delivers an oxidative burst that:
- Breaks down fungal cell walls on contact
- Penetrates porous surfaces like wood and concrete where mold roots (hyphae) extend below the visible surface
- Decomposes into water and oxygen — no chlorine residue, no off-gassing of toxic byproducts
- Leaves treated surfaces safe for follow-up Haven fogging or misting treatments
BioBalance H2O2 contains 12% hydrogen peroxide in water, with no stabilizers, surfactants, fragrances, or other additives.
When to Use the Peroxide Kit
The Peroxide Kit is specifically designed for visible mold on raw building materials. It is the first-response tool in a complete mold treatment protocol:
- Wood framing, trusses, joists, crossbeams
- Subflooring, roof decking, OSB and plywood sheets
- Cinder block walls and concrete floors
- Crawl space materials and attic decking
Do NOT use on finished surfaces (painted wood, laminate flooring, fabric, upholstery) — the 12% H2O2 will bleach and degrade organic materials. For finished surfaces, carpeting, and furniture, use HavenClean Solution instead.
Peroxide Kit vs. Haven Fogging Products — Choosing the Right Treatment
BioBalance offers two complementary mold treatment approaches. Here's how to choose:
- BioBalance Peroxide Kit — Use when you have visible mold growth on raw structural materials. The oxidative action of H2O2 targets surface contamination directly and aggressively.
- HavenFog / HavenMist — Use for airborne spores, post-remediation maintenance, and ongoing environmental mold control throughout living spaces. Follow the instructions for the selected product. For HavenFog treatment: People and pets should not remain in the treatment area for extended periods during fogging. It is best to leave the fog undisturbed for 24 hours after fogging is finished. Re-entry after 12 hours is acceptable. Ventilate the treated areas when people or pets return.
Many customers use both: the Peroxide Kit for initial treatment of affected structural areas, followed by HavenFog or HavenMist throughout the home for comprehensive airborne mold control. ⚠ Important Safety Information
Read the included Safety Data Sheet (SDS) before handling this product.
- Danger — Strong Oxidizing Agent: 12% hydrogen peroxide can cause severe skin and eye burns on contact. Wear the included nitrile gloves, N95 respirator, and safety goggles at all times during application.
- Surface damage risk: H2O2 will bleach and degrade finished surfaces, painted materials, fabrics, and organic materials. Use only on raw, unfinished building materials.
- Ventilation required: Ensure adequate airflow during and after application. Vacate the treated area and allow to dry fully before re-entry.
- Safe storage: Store any unused solution away from heat, open flame, and combustible materials in a sealed, cool location. H2O2 degrades with heat and light exposure.
- Not recommended for chemically sensitive individuals without prior consultation with a credentialed mold inspector or qualified physician.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the BioBalance Peroxide Kit used for?
The BioBalance Peroxide Kit is designed for treating visible mold contamination on raw building materials — including wood framing, subflooring, trusses, roof decking, OSB, cinder block, and concrete. It is an intensive treatment for active, surface-level mold growth on structural materials in homes or commercial buildings.
What concentration of hydrogen peroxide does it contain, and why 12%?
BioBalance H2O2™ uses a 12% hydrogen peroxide concentration — higher than the 3% you find in drugstores. At 12%, H2O2 delivers sufficient oxidative power to penetrate porous building materials and neutralize mold colonies at the root level (hyphae), not just the visible surface. Lower concentrations may not achieve full penetration on dense substrates like wood framing or concrete block.
Can I use the Peroxide Kit on finished surfaces or fabric?
No. The 12% H2O2 solution will bleach, discolor, and degrade finished wood, painted surfaces, laminate flooring, carpeting, and fabric materials. This product is strictly for raw, unfinished building materials only. For mold on carpeting, upholstery, or furniture, use HavenClean Solution instead.
Is the Peroxide Kit safe to use at home without a professional?
Yes — the kit includes all required personal protective equipment (N95 respirator, nitrile gloves, safety goggles) and a full Safety Data Sheet. Follow all SDS instructions carefully. However, for large-scale contamination (more than 10 sq. ft. of visible mold or mold involving HVAC systems), the EPA recommends consulting a credentialed mold inspector. AirWell (BioBalance's sister company) provides professional IEP assessments in AZ, CO, NM, OK, and TX.
How does the Peroxide Kit differ from BioBalance's Haven fogging products?
The Peroxide Kit uses 12% hydrogen peroxide as an oxidizing agent targeting visible mold on raw structural materials. Haven fogging products (HavenFog, HavenMist) use a citrus-seed-extract formula for controlling airborne mold spores and ongoing environmental maintenance in living spaces. The two products are complementary: Peroxide Kit for remediation of affected structural areas, Haven products for whole-home environmental mold control.
Does H2O2 leave a residue after treatment?
No. Hydrogen peroxide decomposes into water and oxygen as it reacts with organic material — it does not leave chlorine residue, bleach byproducts, or persistent chemical traces the way sodium hypochlorite (bleach) does. Once the treated surface dries completely, no H2O2 residue remains. This makes it safe to follow up with Haven fogging treatments after the treated area has dried.
How much area does one kit treat?
One BioBalance Peroxide Kit (1 gallon of 12% H2O2 solution) treats up to 1,500 sq. ft. of building-material surface area. Coverage may vary based on the porosity of the material being treated — denser, more porous substrates like rough-cut lumber or cinder block will absorb more solution per square foot than smooth concrete. For larger treatment areas, multiple kits can be used.
† BioBalance products are designed to support environmental mold management and are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease. Results may vary. For significant mold contamination or mold-related health symptoms, consult a qualified physician and a credentialed mold inspector (CMI/CMRC). ImmunoLytics mold test kits are for environmental testing purposes only.
