Widespread Mold Treatment
When mold is widespread, a consultation with a remediation company is always recommended to advise on and perform the removal of the mold if possible. An aggressive protocol for treating and maintaining the environment calls for a comprehensive approach.
This protocol was developed and validated by Jeff Bookout (CMI, CMRC, AHERA Inspector — 20+ years, 4,000+ mold assessments) and JW Biava (CMI, CMRC, ISEAI Board Member — 100,000+ inspections). HavenFog™ is formulated by Walter Hayhurst, RPh, PCCA using citrus seed extracts with a Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) of all zeros for all hazard categories. When widespread mold is present, a thorough fogging protocol combined with ongoing maintenance misting is the most effective whole-home approach.
Widespread Mold Treatment Steps
HavenFog Kit
The HavenFog Kit includes a 1,500-watt thermal fogger, one gallon of HavenFog solution, and four mold test plates. The included solution treats up to 4,000 square feet. Applying HavenFog throughout a 3,000-square-foot area takes approximately two hours. This estimate covers application only; preparation, waiting, and small particle cleanup are separate steps.

The standard HavenMister holds 34 oz (1000 mL) of diluted HavenMist which allows you to treat a small room in about 2 minutes with a reach of 6 feet.

1. Rip, Remove, Replace
Rip, remove, replace materials contaminated with visible mold. Use proper conditions (i.e. negative air containment, proper personal protective equipment or PPE, etc.) for your own safety and health. Call our experts at (505) 400-8891 for any guidance needed.

2. Test
Sample the area with a mold test. Collect air samples of the areas you will fog. After fogging you will test again and compare the results.

3. Prep
Prep the area you are treating. Open all cabinets, drawers, closets, etc. for a thorough treatment of the area.
Allow up to one hour for preparation, depending on how and where you will apply the fog.
Disconnect all fire alarms. The fog will cause the alarms to sound.
4a. Treat - Shampoo
Shampoo with Haven Clean all carpets, rugs, and fabric furniture before fogging.
4b. Treat - Fog
HavenFog is intended as a one-time treatment. Additional treatment may be needed if a significant mold problem has not yet been remediated or after another water event. Use HavenMist for continued maintenance.
Fog your environment. Add HavenFog to your fogger and thoroughly treat the entire area.
Application takes approximately two hours for a 3,000-square-foot area with the HavenFog Kit, or approximately one hour for a 1,000-square-foot area with the Mini Kit. These estimates cover application only.
People and pets should not remain in the treatment area for extended periods during fogging. It is best to leave the fog undisturbed for 24 hours after fogging is finished. Re-entry after 12 hours is acceptable. Ventilate the treated areas when people or pets return.
Begin small particle cleanup 24 hours after fogging is finished. Cleanup time depends on the area to be cleaned and the thoroughness of the process.
After 24 hours clean all horizontal surfaces by HEPA vacuuming or wet wiping.
5. Re-Test
Test for mold after 3 days. After treatment, wait at least 3 days and retest the areas with the included mold plates. Compare the new sample to the previous sample and to the ImmunoLytics health scale* to confirm the treatment was successful. You can use the included plates for self-testing. Optional laboratory analysis by ImmunoLytics is available for an additional fee and is not included in the kit price.

6. Maintain Your Environment
Use HavenMist for continued maintenance.
People and pets may remain in the area throughout HavenMist misting. After misting, we recommend small particle cleanup by wiping or HEPA vacuuming. Cleanup may begin immediately after misting or at any later time.
